In today’s budget the Government announced that they will bear the cost of statutory sick pay for small businesses who have less than 250 employees.
The current statutory sick pay rate of £94.25 per week will be reimbursed for any employees that fall sick, or are asked to self-isolate due to the Coronavirus, for the first 14 days of sickness/isolation.
Some good news for small employers who are clearly concerned about the costs of absence at a time of uncertain sales and cash flow.
