Training and consultancy specialist OMS has expanded its office admin team with the appointment of an apprentice.
Amy Berrington, 18, will be working four days a week at OMS’s headquarters in Coalville, Leicestershire, and training at nearby Stephensons College one day a week on a business and administration Level 2 course.
In her new role at OMS, Amy will be particating in daily admin tasks including distributing certificates to successful training participants, arranging training bookings and day-to-day office duties management.
Amy wanted to work in an office environment but had no experience so looked into opportunities for training on the job.
She said: “My college gave me a list of companies that were running apprenticeships, and after some research I decided to pick OMS. The company has a great potential for growth and I am happy to be part of that.
“The apprenticeship will teach me what it is like to work in an office environment and prepare me for the world of work after college. It is different to how I expected, much busier but a great challenge.”
Amy will also be working with social media to help build up the online presence of OMS.
OMS specialises in training and consultancy in a broad range of industries with consultancy services that encompass all aspects of human resources, quality, environment, business continuity, health and safety, business risk and corporate social responsibility.
As well as providing tailored training packages and consultancy for large organisations, the company runs courses for small businesses and individuals on subjects including construction site safety, first aid and fire safety.
Amy’s appointment is part of growth plans at OMS, which was established in 1998 by current managing director Clive Ormerod.
