#HandsUp4HealthyMinds
Today, the 10th October 2018, is World Mental Health Day, and this year the focus is on young people in a changing world.
Mental health issues often start in young adulthood, and we have a responsibility to ensure that young people are not suffering in silence. OMS advocates this and we urge you to do the same by giving those who might be at risk the opportunity to begin to open up about what they are struggling with.
Mental Health First Aid England has released a tool that provides the key skills required to begin these conversations to offer help and support to people with mental health issues. The #HandsUp4HealthyMinds toolkit is designed with facts and tips on the mental health of people between the ages of 8 to 24.
The content of the toolkit is tailored for schools, teachers, universities, youth organisations, parents and practitioners, along with some self-care advice and downloadable content.
OMS passionately supports discussion of mental health whatever the situation, we think you should too. Take a moment to consider those around you, as the symptoms of a mental health problem are not always obvious, to think about how you can support someone going through difficulty related to ill mental health.
OMS can provide you with the skills required to approach issues surrounding mental health in the right way. We offer the MHFA Mental Health First Aid Course, and you can book yourself or your staff on here, or give us a call on 01530 833 533.
