  • CITB ATO & Funding Overview

The cost of training can be an issue. But for any employers paying the construction industry training levy, then the new system has been designed to help ensure that the construction industry can invest in the skilled workforce it needs, whilst drawing on all available CITB funding. Smaller employers and self-employed individuals who do not pay the levy needn’t fear being left out, either. You can also apply for a grant – you just need to meet the requirements set out by the CITB and register your company with the CITB before making an application.

Note: You will need the employer 7 digit CITB levy and grant registration number at the point of booking your course.

  • What is CITB ATO?

CITB ATO (Approved Training Organisation) is a status awarded to training providers that are recognised by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the British construction industry as providers of high quality construction training courses and qualifications that meet industry-agreed standards. ATOs are just one of the results of the CITB changing the way it supports training for the construction industry to ensure consistency and standards.

  • Is OMS a CITB ATO?

Yes, we are! We have completed the CITB approval process and are proud to be a fully-accredited CITB ATO training provider.

  • What Does CITB ATO Mean for Me?

It means that firstly, you will receive high quality training that’s guaranteed to meet industry-agreed standards. Training is an investment, so it’s important to make sure you choose CITB courses from only the best providers. Secondly, it will also mean that you don’t need to worry about grant applications for the courses you book with us. This is because as a CITB ATO, we are part of the CITB’s automated grants payments system, which allows us to handle the grant process for you, making both the training and grant application process effortless.

  • What Grant Funding is Available?

For employers in the construction industry paying the levy, there are a number of available grant funding opportunities to support you in training new staff and developing the skills of your existing workforce.

CITB grant funding aims to address three critical issues in the construction sector: promoting interest and careers, ensuring training is there when employers need it, and offering creative and innovative responses to the industry’s future challenges. As of April 2018, the CITB Grants Scheme has also changed its focus to provide greater support in addressing skills gaps and shortages.

Each of the grant funding opportunities have various eligibility criteria and rules. You can find out about those on the CITB website.

  • How Do Grants Work?

Each grant has slightly different rules, but generally you claim grants after your employee finishes their training or gains their qualification. If a course runs over more than one grant scheme year, you can make separate claims for each year. If the grant claim is successful, you should receive your grant money within four weeks of submitting a claim. This process can seem somewhat confusing. Fortunately, we are here to make this as simple as possible for you. As a CITB ATO, we will handle the grant and funding applications for you.

You can claim a grant if you’re an employer who is registered with CITB. This includes small employers who don’t have to pay the levy.

  • Do You Offer Grant Funded Training?

Yes, we do. As we are part of the CITB’s automated grants payment system, you can train with us and be awarded grants without having to do mountains of paperwork as we handle all of the grants and funding claims for you.

  • How Do I Make a Grant/Funding Claim?

It’s very simple! If you are an employer who is registered with CITB, a small employer or a self-employed individual who does not pay the levy, you can make the claim through us. Simply supply your employer 7 digit CITB Levy and grant registration number when booking and we will update the Construction Training Register and confirm the learner’s achievement when they have completed the course. This triggers the automated grant process and you will then receive the grant payment automatically. No paperwork, no drawn-out payment process!
