Mental Health has become, and rightly so, just as important an issue as physical health in the workplace. According to Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA), one in six people of working age will experience mental ill health including depression, anxiety or issues relating to stress, with the estimated annual costs of this nearing £35bn.
It is this issue that has caused many UK businesses to act, with over 50 large organisations such as Ford, Royal Mail and WH Smith choosing to sign and send an open letter to Theresa May.
The letter has urged the Prime Minister to “transform how mental health at work is regarded”, and argues that “there are both economic and human reasons for protecting mental health in the workplace and combined. these reasons present a powerful case for updating the law.”
OMS is no different to those organisations advocating the necessity for Mental Health protection at work, and we can offer your business the skills required to ensure that those who may be suffering can receive the help they need.
Our next Mental Health First Aid Course coming up on the 5th December 2018 at our centre in Leicestershire, with more dates available until the end of the year and going into 2019.
