It has been impossible to avoid recent news headlines that read something along the lines of ‘The Amazon is burning – An environmental catastrophe with global implications’, and for good reason.
The largest rainforest in the world has been the victim of some of the most ferocious forest fires in recent memory – But why is this so significant?
The Amazon is one of the Earth’s main allies in fighting climate change, holding up to 140 billion tonnes of carbon, equivalent to 100 years of carbon production, the majority of which likely came from humans*.
Each year, 45,000,000 acres of forest are cut down.
It is the mission of an organisation known as 8 Billion Trees to combat this head on, and OMS are joining the fight.
With our commitment to save 100 trees and plant 10 trees each month, we hope to participate in what has become a worldwide rebuilding process, to save our planet.
8 Billion Trees have a website where you can learn about what is happening to Earth, and make a difference by donating –
